Yung-Yee Chen credits her musical growth to her inspirational teachers, past and present-Rozina Tenenbaum, Professor Hans Boepple, and Professor Thomas Schultz.

She recently won the MTAC Solo Competition (College Division) and performed in a master class under Leon Fleisher for the San Jose Steinway Society. November2005, she and three other students of Thomas Schultz performed at the Schoenberg Center in Vienna, playing a concert of the Second Viennese School paired with the Viennese classics. Through this experience, she developed a newfound enthusiasm and appreciation for atonal music and the Viennese classical tradition.

Since 2004, Yung-Yee has been a member of the MTAC Young Artist Guild through which she has won the AMRON Award and Samuel Rodetsky Award- awards given to one selected YAG member each year based on piano performance and written essays.

Yung-Yee is a junior at Stanford University, double majoring in history and music. In addition to piano, she enjoys dancing with Stanford Chinese Dance and raising awareness about Sino-Japanese WWII atrocities. Yung-Yee especially loves attending music concerts of all types with her family and friends, and believes that these concerts have fostered her passion for music.
