The MTAC-SF Board of Directors would like to welcome you to another year of wonderful opportunities for our fellow teachers and our students.
| General Meeting |
Come to our first General Meeting on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 3:00 pm. The meeting will feature Evelyn from Sunset Music! She will talk about her store, materials for Certificate of Merit, and lots of other things to be followed by a question and answer session. Come and meet new members, re-connect with familiar ones, and network! Refreshments will follow. The meeting will take place at the home of Shari Levinger-Jacobs 1860 16th Ave. S.F. 94122 btw. Ortega & Noriega.

| New Branch Directory |
Our new Branch Directory will be printed in October. Contact our membership secretary, Phyllis Pan, for any changes of your street address, phone #, or email address. You must do this on or before September 22nd,to be included in the latest directory printed in October. This is the deadline! It is important that we have your email address, since a great deal of important information is sent to you regarding our branch, via email. Please take time to read the Recital Guidelines for Teachers included in this newsletter. The parameters in these guidelines are to be followed exactly in order to maintain our standard of excellence, and to make life a little easier for our recital coordinators, and make the recitals proceed smoothly.
The best way to enter your students in any MTAC-SF event is to use the recital form found on our website at www. mtac-sf.com. Fill in all the information: type it, using your keyboard (don't write it in). Once you have done that, print it out and mail it to the recital coordinator with recital fees.

| Certificate of Merit (CM) |
The Certificate of Merit information packets will be mailed in mid September. Teachers who did not participate in last year's March, 2006 CM, please contact Keiko Banks at 415-387-015 sbanks@sonic.net or Esther Chan at 415-661-7601 pianistchanesther@sbc.global.net. You may log on to the CM website if you want to know NOW at www.mtac.org Please ask Keiko Banks or Esther Chan if you have other detailed questions.

| Special Events |
- Juleit McComas will produce and perform in the fourth annual keyboard marathon to take place at 4:00 pm on Sunday, April 29, 2007at the Community Music Center Concert Hall at 544 Capp Street. The final four books of Felix Mendelssohn's "Lieder Ohne Worte" (Songs Without Words), will be presented by various Bay Area Pianists. MTAC-SF pianist Esther Chan will be a featured guest artist.
- Steinway Society - The Bay Area presents Renowned Pianist, Conductor and Teacher Leon Fleisher in Master Class and Recital. The Master Class features three exceptional Bay Area pianists. Bethany Wang and Yung-Yee Chen, students of Thomas Schultz, and Kenric Tam, a student of John McCarthy, will perform.

- The Peninsula Symphony 2007 Marylin Mindell
Piano Competition will be held March 11th, 2007 at Stanford University.
Eligibility: High school students in the 2006-07 school year, residing in
the Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Excellent prizes, including a $1,000.00
first prize and performance as soloist with the Peninsula Symphony.
