Hello MTAC-SF Members: On June 1st, 2008 at 3:00 pm, there was a special General Meeting of MTAC-SF at the home of one of our members, Maya Gorodetsky. Our members voted on a change in our bylaws, which was approved by a count of 14 yes votes to 3 no votes. The change in the bylaws is in bold print as follows: Sec.1: The officers of this organization shall be: President, Vice-president, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Membership Secretary and four (4) Directors. Except for the president, the officers shall be elected for a term of one year or until their successors have been elected. The President shall be elected for a term of two years, with no more than 2 consecutive terms. After the two terms, he/she must step down for two years before serving on the Board of Directors again. In the event that the position of president is not filled, the current president can continue on an interim basis for one additional year, only. A corresponding secretary may be appointed by the President. These officers shall perform the duties prescribed by these bylaws and by the current edition of Robert's Rules of Order, Newly Revised. It shall be the goal of the nominating committee to fill all eleven positions but finding this not possible a minimum of nine members may comprise the entire board. The reason for this bylaw change is that no one has accepted to be on the ballot to accept the position of president for the coming term. Our current president, Scott Pratt, has agreed to serve for one more year, only. Our branch has been instructed by the State Board to go ahead with the official legitimate ballot process for the election of branch president. Please come to the Installation Dinner on Sunday, June 22 at 5:00pm, which will be a Pot Luck at the home of Maya Gorodetsky, 1238 39th Ave in SF (between Lincoln and Irving). Come and welcome our new branch Board Members! The Dinner is free of charge. |
