Greetings!

Please find enclosed:

The MTAC-SF Board of Directors would like to welcome you to another year of wonderful opportunities for our fellow teachers and our students.

Important News of Certificate of Merit

The 2008 Certificate of Merit dates are set for March 2 & 9, 2008 at San Francisco State University. The Honors Recital will be held on March 16. You have to attend our next general meeting on September 16, at 3:00 PM if you want to enter your students for the 2008 CM Evaluation.

A new Piano Syllabus is available for purchase from the MTAC State Office (415) 978-9668 for $22. You will need this new edition to prepare for the 2008 exam. Because of the many changes made in theory, technique and repertoire, our next general meeting will be mandatory for all teachers who wish to enter their students. During the meeting, we will highlight the changes as well as provide resources that will be helpful for teachers to prepare their students for the evaluation. Teachers who do not attend this meeting will not be allowed to register their students in Path A of the exam.

The meeting will be held on Sunday, September 16, 3 p.m., at the home of Keiko Banks, 138 18th Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94121 (Between California and Lake). Be sure to bring your syllabus as well as any questions you may have to the meeting.

Recital Guidelines

Please take time to read the recital guidelines for teachers included in this newsletter. The parameters in these guidelines are to be followed exactly in order to maintain our standard of excellence, and to make the recitals proceed smoothly. Make sure the timing of the pieces that your students will play is written on the form exactly. The time limits for your students' pieces will be strictly enforced.

The best way to enter your students in any MTAC-SF event is to use the recital form found in our website at www.mtac-sf.org. Using your computer keyboard, type all the necessary information. Print it out (Don't write it in), and mail it out to our recital coordinator. For those of you without internet access, a recital application form has been included in this newsletter.

Mail all completed application forms with your $20.00 fee each time to our current branch recital coordinator for 2007-2008, Jane Hung, at 1239 21st Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94122. If you have any questions, please email them to Jane Hung at janehung@sbcglobal.net. Please direct any questions to Jane via email. If you must call, contact Scott Pratt at 317-1245
