CM Essential Information

What's New for CM 2012
  • New Syllabi for 2012 Evaluations; Voice/Wind, $35.00 at MTAC Online Shopping. More information on page 6 of CM Newsletter, August 2011 issue.
  • There is a new page for enrolling a new student. You will see the page, "CM New Student Registration Preliminary Questions". More information on page 8 of CM Newsletter, August 2011 issue.
  • Advanced Level students may now play an Etude that is by the same composer as another piece that the student is playing. For example, the student is allowed to play a Chopin Etude and a Chopin Nocturne. CM 2012 Addendum #3 piano Syllabus
  • Advanced Level students must still play an Etude from the Etude List on pages 92-96. In the past, not playing an Etude from the list resulted in an RAL rating. Beginning with 2012 evaluations, students who play an Etude that is not from the list will receive an IC rating.
  • Addendum for 2012 Panel Audition Guidelines
  • The deadline for changing students Path A to Path B is January 15th, 2012
  • Age limit: Students must be age 5 or older as of Nov. 5, 2011 to participate in Path A. There is no age limit for Path B.
  • Sight-Reading preview time limit for Level 8 and up changed to 45 seconds.

Other Essential Information
  • Teachers who are new to the CM program, contact Janis Lee for your login user name and password. Visit "Certificate of Merit" at www.mtac.org.
  • Read CM newsletter for new information and requirements.
  • You may pick up the students' theory tests, evaluation result sheets, certificates, honors' seals and senior medalsin the beginning of April, otherwise they will be mailed to you.
  • Convention recitals schedule posted on state website: June 1.
