Piano Competition

Our branch annually organizes a piano competition for young students of our members. The purpose of the competition is to promote excellence in different stages of piano study. The winners are to share their talents and artistic ability with the general public in the competition recital. Repertoire required includes baroque, classical, romantic and 20th century periods. All winners appear in the winner's recital and monetary prizes are awarded at that time.

Community Outreach Concerts

In 2009, the MTAC-SF Branch began community outreach concerts for the elderly living in care settings; both our member teachers and their students have performed. There was one concert on December 25, 2009, at The Heritage, a life care retirement community in the Marina District and a second concert at Laguna Honda Hospital on March 13, 2010. This new tradition of two community outreach concerts each academic year will continue in the future. The Heritage has already requested that the December 25 concert become an annual event there.
